The SFL market in the downtown has been constantly shifting with the market to offer more diverse products, and a quality service. Their programs are based on real, whole food, and lots of motivation and accountability. They just finished another re-brand that not only improves the look of the Downtown, it also brings more attention to them.

Warren’s carpentry takes great pride in delivering high quality work on time and on budget. Josh and his team understand how much disruption can come with building a new home or renovating an existing one so they work with the customer to make sure this process goes as smooth as possible. Warren’s carpentry is not satisfied unless the customer is completely satisfied and because of this, the company is growing significantly. Things like having a complimentary fruit basket at the entrance of the store for children to snack on while shopping, no-tax days, and their random grocery giveaways!! The services they offer such as cooking classes and their in house dietitian create a space that makes food taste better and be better!

Callbecks Home Hardware 

For almost 120 years Callbecks Home Hardware has been continuously satisfying customers with their excellent customer service, pleasant staff, and variety of merchandise. They continue to be community supporters through sponsorships, volunteering and customer appreciation BBQs. Callbecks has recently acquired the Salisbury Home Hardware in New Brunswick and continues to satisfy customers on and off island !

D.J. Family Entertainment 

D.J. Family Entertainment Inc has not only broadened the horizon for entertainment in the Summerside area, they’ve also created jobs for many people. Their newly opened Splash Park brings an experience to the waterfront like no other and their Off the Wallz Trampoline Park offers a unique way for families to spend time together. D.J. Entertainment is attracting Islanders to the Summerside area with their Olympic sized trampolines and inflatable obstacle course. In Focus Eye Care

In Focus Eye Care, the office of Dr. Angela Arsenault, opened her doors in the fall of 2016 and thorough eye exams and takes the time to explain everything out to her patients. In addition to comprehensive eye exams, she offers contact lens examinations and eyeglass fittings. In Focus Eye has been providing professional, high quality eye care to patients of all ages. Angela gives Care has a wide range of quality, stylish eyewear to choose from and the staff is more than willing to help their patients find the perfect pair!

Opened in December 2016, the Nautican Research and Development manufacturing facility has already proven a game changing decision for the company and Islanders alike. The facility has built a top-notch team, and has significantly increased their strong manufacturing capability. Nautican’s Slemon Park operations are instrumental in efficiently meeting international client demand, while engaging local suppliers and fostering economic growth. Nautican is an excellent example of an emerging advanced marine technology company finding success in Prince Edward Island.

South Central’s impact on Downtown Summerside was immediately felt, offering a high quality product in a unique way. Their in house baked bread is amazing and the service is always friendly. I am a regular customer, whether it is for a sandwich or a burrito bowl, I find all of their high quality products something you want to go back for. Overall the concept is simple, but the results are a very high quality product at a reasonable price.

CBDC

CBDC Central continues to be a strong contributor to the Island’s economy and the development and growth of Island Entrepreneurs year after year. To date they have approved and disbursed $20,000,000 and levered another $10,000,000. In addition to providing financial help to new business start ups and businesses wanting to expand, they provide business counselling and skills development training to hundreds of entrepreneurs every year. We are lucky to have an organization like CBDC Central who supports our Island entrepreneurs by giving them a solid foundation.

MRSB Group 

MRSB Group goes above and beyond the call of accounting for local businesses. You can find their team bagging groceries for the Autism Society, selling dream house tickets month-long for Big Brothers Big Sisters PEI, and consistently volunteering throughout the year with Stars for Life, PCH Foundation, Atlantic Kidney Foundation, Boys & Girls Club, Generation XX, Alzheimer’s Society, Anderson House, PEI Humane Society, Chances, and supporting many more through donations and participation in events.

Novus Auto Glass

Novus Auto Glass is not only an auto glass repair shop, but they are a major contributor to their community.  This year, partners Trevor Farrell and Randy Compton, really stepped up when it came to helping the Summerside Boys and Girls Club Golf Charity Tournament and it has been noted that this event wouldn’t be the success it is today without them.  Novus Auto Glass not only provides fast and friendly service, excellent work, and a range of accessory services, they care about the community in which they do business. They support local sports teams, roller derby, judo, the Prince County Hospital, and many others.  Their loyal and ever-growing customer base cannot disagree that Novus Auto Glass is the place to be.

Summerside Port Corp

Port Corp took the lead on the development of the new Urban Core Plan for downtown Summerside. The future of our community rests in part with the future success and opportunity that emerges from our downtown. The funding, partnering and presentation of a vision for a better future for our downtown was no simple feat and is becoming a reality to the Port Corp.

The College of Piping 

The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada has a world-class reputation as an international school of excellence in Highland bagpiping, Scottish-style drumming, Highland dancing and Island step dancing. Since it’s inception in 1989, students from all over the world have come to learn traditional Celtic Arts, passed down from generation to generation. Under the direction of College faculty, individuals and pipe bands have been consistent winners in local, national and international competitions.

Devin Bulger, The Humble Barber 

Devin Bulger is the perfect employee at The Humble Barber, holding the same values and dedication to a high quality of service that their customers have come to expect. He cuts up to 25 kids under 10 a week and is patient and pleasant as can be. The positive reviews from his clients show just how much care and attention he puts into each appointment.

Steve Dunn, Slemon Park Corporation

Steve Dunn has been a Slemon Park Corporation employee for over 25 years. As Central Heating Plant Engineer, Steve has looked after propane appliances for Slemon Park’s substantial 255-home residential division for over a decade, chaired the Slemon Park Corporation Health & Safety Committee, and oversees plumbing and heating repairs for Slemon Park’s commercial tenants. Steve’s unwavering dedication, customer-focused attitude, and top-notch customer service provision truly embodies Slemon Park’s mandate that clients’ positive experience is key to success.

Sue McGiveron, The College of Piping 

Sue McGiveron is the Special Events Coordinator for the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts Centre. If you have been to the college, you have likely met Sue; she is the one who greets you with a smile and is ready to help whoever walks in the door with whatever they may be looking for. Sue embodies the vision of the college and truly enhances the success with her positively and accepting manner.

Susan Woodside, Anderson Automotive 

While David is in the garage taking care of business, Susan is always out front taking care of customers and nobody is nicer, more patient and easier to deal with than Susan. She is a huge asset to Anderson’s Automotive and can make a conversation about even the most complicated car repair job, be pleasant and enjoyable!

Truda Stavert, The Physio Center 

Truda is a dedicated team member at The Physio Center. In the past year she has gone above and beyond to train other staff, take on additional duties and is a true example of what a great administrative professional is. Truda is consistently reliable and not hesitant to take on challenging tasks. Her presence at our clinic is essential for our clients and her coworkers. She embodies our clinic’s slogan, which is “Discover Your Potential”

 

The Choose Summerside Award for People’s Choice

Big Brothers Big Sisters PEI

Big Brothers Big Sisters of PEI provides high quality, volunteer-based mentoring programs to Island children, between the ages of 6 and 19. From their Dream Cottage to Bowl for Kids Sake, Big Brothers Big Sisters continues to help out the community in many ways. With the help of many volunteers, Big Brothers Big Sisters provides the youth of our community with the support and encouragement that they need to help grow and prosper in life. The relationships and bonds that are formed through their programs are often kept for life!

Nicholson Group Inc. 

The staff at Nicholson Group has changed the way people look at Employee Benefits in a new refreshing way. They have taken the time to listen to the employers and employees in providing a comprehensive plan that is flexible enough to meet the ongoing need of attraction and retaining employees. They have accomplished this change in attitude by providing quality Education Opportunities within the Chamber family. The Humble Barber has not just been helping revitalize our downtown, but also the way we look and feel about ourselves. It is more than a place to get a haircut, it is a place to hang out, get to know new people, and do something for ourselves – something that should never be overlooked.
