Privacy Policy

The purpose of this policy is to set out the practices of the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce (GSCC) with respect to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by GSCC. We are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our members, partners and web site visitors.

GSCC is accountable for all personal information under its control. The Privacy Officer, or person responsible for the privacy policy, is the Manager of Operations who can be reached at the GSCC office.

Personal information is any information in a recorded form about an identifiable individual, which may include information that when combined with other information identifies an individual. Aggregated information about a group of individuals that does not enable identification of an individual person does not fall within the scope of personal information. GSCC does not collect personal information except when the individual voluntarily provides this information.

The purpose for which GSCC collects personal information will be identified at the time of collection and GSCC confirms that it will not use the information for any other purpose. GSCC may collect personal information for the purposes of administering GSCC membership and providing member services, registering for GSCC events, and purchasing various GSCC products or services.

GSCC seeks consent for all personal information we collect, use and disclose through information provided at the time of the collection. If you have voluntarily provided information, you have consented to the collection, use and disclosure of your personally identifiable information as described in this privacy policy. Should GSCC need to use your information for other than the purpose for which consent has been given, we will contact you to seek consent for that new use.

GSCC limits the amount and type of information collected to only the personal information that is required to provide the individual with the requested information, product or service. We only collect information that is voluntarily provided and undertake to such information will be kept strictly confidential. GSCC does not sell or trade any personal information with third parties. GSCC may transfer information to service providers where information processing is outsourced by GSCC in the course of its administrative procedures or member services in specific cases. Where personal information is transferred to a service provider to processing, we require the service provider to respect this Privacy Policy and we restrict them from using or disclosing personal information transferred to them for any purpose other than the provision of services to us.

GSCC may disclose personal information collected by it without the knowledge or consent of the individual, for example to its lawyers, for purposes relating to an investigation under, the enforcement of, or the administration of law, or where required to by law to disclose the information. GSCC will not use or disclose personal information without the knowledge or consent of the individual except as authorized by applicable law.

GSCC respects the privacy of our members, partners, and potential website visitors and will protect that privacy to the best of our ability. Unfortunately, no data transmitted over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or receive from us electronically. While we have no way of protecting information until it reaches us, once we receive your transmission, however, we will make our best efforts to ensure its security on our servers.

GSCC makes every effort to keep personal information as accurate, complete, current and relevant as necessary for the identified purposes. GSCC, however, does not routinely update personal information.

GSCC makes readily available to individuals our Privacy Policy and related procedures for managing personal information, by providing access to policy and procedures in written form. Also, at the written request of an individual, he or she may view or edit their personal information as collected by GSCC. We will inform him or her of what personal information we have, what it is being used for and, in cases where it has been disclosed, to whom and for what purpose. Any questions about the Privacy Policy or the handling of personal information, as well as any requests to view your own personal information should be directed to the Privacy Officer. Requests for information should be in writing (by mail, email or fax) and should contain the following details: your name, contact details, membership number (if applicable), the nature of your request, including whether you wish to view and/or edit information or inquire regarding use and/or disclosure. GSCC will strive to reply to your request in no later than 30 days after receipt of the request. If we are not able to disclose all the personal information we hold on you, we will give you a reason for our inability to do so, unless prohibited by law.
