July 9th, 2014:  GSCC to Host “The Way Forward” Business Conference

The Greater Summerside Chamber of Conference will be hosting a business forum in September entitled “The Way Forward”, which Executive Director Jane Sharpe says will be all about working together for the betterment of the business community.

“There is a lot of positive energy in Summerside these days,” she said, “and we want to try to build on that by getting a large turnout from the business community, our economic development organizations and our politicians, to think about how we can better focus our efforts towards driving positive and prosperous change for our business community.”

The conference will feature a number of top notch speakers from the Island and beyond who will challenge our beliefs, stimulate our thinking and encourage us to adjust our collective mindset about what is possible.

The first speakers to be announced are:

  • Don Mills, Chairman and CEO, Corporate Research Associates. Don is one of Canada’s leading public opinion and market research professionals with more than 35 years in the industry who will get our day off to a rocking start with a presentation entitled, “Atlantic Canada at a Cross Road.”
  • Paul MacNeill, Publisher of Island Press and co-organizer of the Georgetown Conference who will outline some of the challenges he sees in our own back yard.
  • Alan Duncan, Executive Office at Results Management and former Dean of Business at UPEI, will speak about thinking like an entrepreneur no matter what your role in the company.
  • And Jennifer Gillivan, President and CEO, IWK Health Centre Foundation, will talk about the one single thing we ALL need to learn to do better.

Other speakers will be announced throughout the summer. “The Way Forward” will be held at Slemon Park Hotel & Conference Centre on September 17th and is sponsored in part by Slemon Park.
